WTF I'm Doing With My Career Now šŸµ

How I’m redefining success, starting over, and launching a new way to build sustainable businesses.

Hellooo, welcome back to the newsletter šŸ‘‹
This week, I’m finally addressing the elephant in the room — where I’ve landed with my career, what I’m building next, and some exciting updates you’ll be the first to hear šŸ‘€

Real Talk…

In an online world full of highlight reels, let’s get real and dive into the authentic, unfiltered realities of entrepreneurship and being a founder. Here are some behind-the-scenes musings and reflections from my past week… ā¬‡ļø

Sooo… WTF Am I Doing Now?

ICYMI, my first business was a sustainable fashion consultancy I bootstrapped over six years and scaled to multiple six figures. I’m incredibly proud of the business and brand I built — and deeply grateful to have supported so many intentional and genuine sustainable fashion founders over the years.

On top of that, I hit a lot of so-called ā€œsuccessā€ milestones — spoke at international conferences, got featured in Fortune, Forbes, CBC… the whole thing.

And yes, I’m truly proud and privileged to have done work that aligned with my values, fulfilled my passion, and provided for me financially. But last summer, I had a difficult realization: I couldn’t do it anymore.

(For the full lore, you can watch my career pivot YouTube video if you haven’t already.)

Over the years, my business quietly evolved into something that wasn’t sustainable for me. I still loved the work and the clients, but I wasn’t paying myself enough (choosing instead to reinvest and grow a team), and I started to feel boxed in by the sustainable fashion ā€œniche.ā€

Because it was my first business, I invested in a ton of courses, programs, and mentors — even though I went to business school. I wanted entrepreneur-specific knowledge from people who had actually done it. And while I learned a lot, I now realize many of those mentors didn’t align with the values or lifestyle I wanted long-term.

In my 20s, I had the time, energy, and drive to hustle. And it’s not like I’ve lost that ambition now — but in my 30s, I have less energy to burn and more financial responsibilities (we’re saving for a wedding and a property, as I mentioned last week!)

Sooo the ā€œgrow at all costsā€ strategy that got me through my 20s just wasn’t working anymore.

Now, I’m committed to using everything I learned from building Recloseted to sustainably grow and scale my new business — tentatively called Conscious CoLab for now ✨

With Conscious CoLab, I’m expanding beyond sustainable fashion and supporting purpose-driven founders more broadly — both product-based businesses and service providers. I’m still helping with things like product development, go-to-market strategies, sales, and marketing… but this time, I’m doing it in a way that’s actually sustainable.

I’m also stepping more into sweat equity advising and eventually angel investing. I’ve been spending more time in the London VC scene, meeting inspiring founders and investors across sectors like healthcare, tech, AI, and more — and honestly, I’m loving it.

But at the heart of all this, my mission is still the same: to democratize business knowledge and show founders how to build businesses that last.

To me, democratization means making things accessible — whether that’s through pricing, cultivating an open and supportive community, or sharing my journey vulnerably and transparently.

I’m especially excited to (re)launch my podcast Confessions of a Conscious CEO in a few weeks. It’ll be one of the main ways I continue sharing what I learn, alongside this email newsletter and my socials 🫶

Having the Courage to Start (Again)

As I get older, I’ve noticed how tempting it is to stay in what’s ā€œworking.ā€ The safety of it. The ease. I could’ve kept running Recloseted…

But the truth? The magic never happens in the comfort zone. And I refuse to settle.

So, I’m doing the damn thing. Again.

It’s scary, of course. But I also knew I couldn’t keep going the way I was. So while yes, it’s an act of courage to start over — it’s also an act of self-love (and honestly, self-preservation lol).

If I can do it, you can too šŸ¤

Real Business Updates

Let’s skip the fluff and get straight to actionable business insights that spark inspiration, ignite creativity, and solve problems ā¬‡ļø

Adapting Things For Me

When I was building and scaling Recloseted, I invested in a variety of courses, mentors, and programs — but most of them pushed ā€œgrow at all costsā€ strategies. And while I’ll always believe in working hard and being scrappy when needed, hustling 24/7 is not the move if you’re trying to build something truly sustainable.

Some of the strategies I learned back then are still valid — but now, I’m adapting and tweaking them for this next chapter.

Right now, I’m in my social experiment era — taking everything I’ve learned, testing it on myself and my clients, and figuring out how we can build businesses that actually support our goals, values, and version of success.

Here’s a little peek into what that looks like šŸ‘‡

On Products…

One of my mentors used to say: ā€œIf it makes you money, solves a problem, and the market needs it — go for it.ā€ Passion and strengths? Just a cherry on top.

But in this season, I’m realizing that alignment matters. Products should be grounded in customer needs and your strengths and your passions and actual market demand. All four can (and should) coexist.

So I’m taking everything I’ve learned about product strategy, validation, and development — and turning it into a course called Sustain Your Products. Can’t wait to share more with you soon šŸ‘€

On Sales…

One mentor I had swore by sales calls and webinars — and while yes, they can be effective, I could maybe handle three weeks of calls or three masterclasses before burning the hell out.

Which meant? Feast and famine cycles. Some months were $$$. Others were... $0. And it never felt safe or stable.

Now, I’m building a sales system that’s actually sustainable — one that doesn’t rely solely on me showing up all the time. A system that converts in the background, while still feeling personal and aligned.

That’s what Sustain Your Sales is all about — and yes, it’s coming soon too šŸ‘€

On Marketing…

I once had a mentor encourage us to post multiple times a day. (Honestly, it was diabolical šŸ˜‚) While I understand the ā€œget your reps inā€ logic, that approach just leads to burnout and resentment — toward your content and the algorithm.

Now, I’m redefining how I market and create content: focusing on creating value, curating community, and showing up in ways that feel good. Not just to please an algorithm.

I’m proud to say I’ve cracked the code on how to manage long-form content (like this newsletter, YouTube, and my podcast) and short-form content (IG, TikTok, YT Shorts) — without losing my mind.

Everything I’ve learned is going into Sustain Your Marketing — yes, you guessed it, it’s coming soon šŸ‘€

On Launching…

The intense launch style I learned from another mentor left me with launch PTSD šŸ˜µā€šŸ’«

Every single time, I ended up exhausted and needed a month (minimum) to recover. Which meant I could only launch once or twice a year… and again, back on the rollercoaster šŸŽ¢

Now? I’m focused on easeful, repeatable launches that still hit financial goals — but don’t require my soul in exchange.

That’s what Sustain Your Launch is here to help with — stay tuned šŸ‘€

Real Growth…

To be the best founder possible, continuous learning and growth are essential. Don’t let yourself become the bottleneck in your business! Here are some self-development resources I found valuable this past week... ā¬‡ļø

šŸŽ„ YouTube Video: Everyone Has Skills — Here’s How You Can Monetize Yours

I really enjoyed making this week’s YouTube video about how we all have skills — yes, even the ones you take for granted — and how you can start monetizing them.

If you’ve ever felt like you don’t have anything ā€œspecialā€ to offer (you do btw), this one’s for you and you can watch it here.

šŸŽ§ Podcast Episode I Loved: Emma Grede on Overcoming Imposter Syndrome

You already know I’ve fangirled over Emma Grede on this newsletter before — and this conversation she had with Net-A-Porter was so good.

She talks about imposter syndrome in a way that felt so refreshing and honest. I won’t spoil it, but let’s just say it gave me a lot to reflect on — and I think you’ll take something powerful from it too.

Real Self-Care…

Sustainable success can only happen if you take care of yourself. Self-care is not selfish — it’s necessary. Here are some self-care tools to recharge and stay balanced this week... ā¬‡ļø

Self-Care Challenge: This week, I caught myself slipping back into old people-pleasing habits — saying yes when I wanted to say no, overextending myself, trying to be everything to everyone.

But instead of judging myself, I simply noticed it. I acknowledged it. And I reminded myself:
→ I need to set boundaries
→ I need to say no
→ I can’t do everything — and if I try, I won’t have the capacity to do what actually matters to me

So if you needed this reminder too, here it is šŸ¤

Journal Prompt: If I could do anything, what would I want to do? And how can I find the courage to make that a reality?

Andd that’s it for this week! Have a great week and I’ll be back next week with my full launch strategy and plan šŸ‘€
