WTF I'm Doing With My Career Now šµ
How Iām redefining success, starting over, and launching a new way to build sustainable businesses.
Hellooo, welcome back to the newsletter š
This week, Iām finally addressing the elephant in the room ā where Iāve landed with my career, what Iām building next, and some exciting updates youāll be the first to hear š
Real Talkā¦
In an online world full of highlight reels, letās get real and dive into the authentic, unfiltered realities of entrepreneurship and being a founder. Here are some behind-the-scenes musings and reflections from my past week⦠ā¬ļø
Sooo⦠WTF Am I Doing Now?
ICYMI, my first business was a sustainable fashion consultancy I bootstrapped over six years and scaled to multiple six figures. Iām incredibly proud of the business and brand I built ā and deeply grateful to have supported so many intentional and genuine sustainable fashion founders over the years.
On top of that, I hit a lot of so-called āsuccessā milestones ā spoke at international conferences, got featured in Fortune, Forbes, CBC⦠the whole thing.
And yes, Iām truly proud and privileged to have done work that aligned with my values, fulfilled my passion, and provided for me financially. But last summer, I had a difficult realization: I couldnāt do it anymore.
(For the full lore, you can watch my career pivot YouTube video if you havenāt already.)
Over the years, my business quietly evolved into something that wasnāt sustainable for me. I still loved the work and the clients, but I wasnāt paying myself enough (choosing instead to reinvest and grow a team), and I started to feel boxed in by the sustainable fashion āniche.ā
Because it was my first business, I invested in a ton of courses, programs, and mentors ā even though I went to business school. I wanted entrepreneur-specific knowledge from people who had actually done it. And while I learned a lot, I now realize many of those mentors didnāt align with the values or lifestyle I wanted long-term.
In my 20s, I had the time, energy, and drive to hustle. And itās not like Iāve lost that ambition now ā but in my 30s, I have less energy to burn and more financial responsibilities (weāre saving for a wedding and a property, as I mentioned last week!)
Sooo the āgrow at all costsā strategy that got me through my 20s just wasnāt working anymore.
Now, Iām committed to using everything I learned from building Recloseted to sustainably grow and scale my new business ā tentatively called Conscious CoLab for now āØ
With Conscious CoLab, Iām expanding beyond sustainable fashion and supporting purpose-driven founders more broadly ā both product-based businesses and service providers. Iām still helping with things like product development, go-to-market strategies, sales, and marketing⦠but this time, Iām doing it in a way thatās actually sustainable.
Iām also stepping more into sweat equity advising and eventually angel investing. Iāve been spending more time in the London VC scene, meeting inspiring founders and investors across sectors like healthcare, tech, AI, and more ā and honestly, Iām loving it.
But at the heart of all this, my mission is still the same: to democratize business knowledge and show founders how to build businesses that last.
To me, democratization means making things accessible ā whether thatās through pricing, cultivating an open and supportive community, or sharing my journey vulnerably and transparently.
Iām especially excited to (re)launch my podcast Confessions of a Conscious CEO in a few weeks. Itāll be one of the main ways I continue sharing what I learn, alongside this email newsletter and my socials š«¶
Having the Courage to Start (Again)
As I get older, Iāve noticed how tempting it is to stay in whatās āworking.ā The safety of it. The ease. I couldāve kept running Reclosetedā¦
But the truth? The magic never happens in the comfort zone. And I refuse to settle.
So, Iām doing the damn thing. Again.
Itās scary, of course. But I also knew I couldnāt keep going the way I was. So while yes, itās an act of courage to start over ā itās also an act of self-love (and honestly, self-preservation lol).
If I can do it, you can too š¤
Real Business Updates
Letās skip the fluff and get straight to actionable business insights that spark inspiration, ignite creativity, and solve problems ā¬ļø
Adapting Things For Me
When I was building and scaling Recloseted, I invested in a variety of courses, mentors, and programs ā but most of them pushed āgrow at all costsā strategies. And while Iāll always believe in working hard and being scrappy when needed, hustling 24/7 is not the move if youāre trying to build something truly sustainable.
Some of the strategies I learned back then are still valid ā but now, Iām adapting and tweaking them for this next chapter.
Right now, Iām in my social experiment era ā taking everything Iāve learned, testing it on myself and my clients, and figuring out how we can build businesses that actually support our goals, values, and version of success.
Hereās a little peek into what that looks like š
On Productsā¦
One of my mentors used to say: āIf it makes you money, solves a problem, and the market needs it ā go for it.ā Passion and strengths? Just a cherry on top.
But in this season, Iām realizing that alignment matters. Products should be grounded in customer needs and your strengths and your passions and actual market demand. All four can (and should) coexist.
So Iām taking everything Iāve learned about product strategy, validation, and development ā and turning it into a course called Sustain Your Products. Canāt wait to share more with you soon š
On Salesā¦
One mentor I had swore by sales calls and webinars ā and while yes, they can be effective, I could maybe handle three weeks of calls or three masterclasses before burning the hell out.
Which meant? Feast and famine cycles. Some months were $$$. Others were... $0. And it never felt safe or stable.
Now, Iām building a sales system thatās actually sustainable ā one that doesnāt rely solely on me showing up all the time. A system that converts in the background, while still feeling personal and aligned.
Thatās what Sustain Your Sales is all about ā and yes, itās coming soon too š
On Marketingā¦
I once had a mentor encourage us to post multiple times a day. (Honestly, it was diabolical š) While I understand the āget your reps inā logic, that approach just leads to burnout and resentment ā toward your content and the algorithm.
Now, Iām redefining how I market and create content: focusing on creating value, curating community, and showing up in ways that feel good. Not just to please an algorithm.
Iām proud to say Iāve cracked the code on how to manage long-form content (like this newsletter, YouTube, and my podcast) and short-form content (IG, TikTok, YT Shorts) ā without losing my mind.
Everything Iāve learned is going into Sustain Your Marketing ā yes, you guessed it, itās coming soon š
On Launchingā¦
The intense launch style I learned from another mentor left me with launch PTSD šµāš«
Every single time, I ended up exhausted and needed a month (minimum) to recover. Which meant I could only launch once or twice a year⦠and again, back on the rollercoaster š¢
Now? Iām focused on easeful, repeatable launches that still hit financial goals ā but donāt require my soul in exchange.
Thatās what Sustain Your Launch is here to help with ā stay tuned š
Putting it All Together⦠Introducing: The Sustain Your Success (Operating) System š«
And now, Iām so excited to officially introduce:

Real Growthā¦
To be the best founder possible, continuous learning and growth are essential. Donāt let yourself become the bottleneck in your business! Here are some self-development resources I found valuable this past week... ā¬ļø
š„ YouTube Video: Everyone Has Skills ā Hereās How You Can Monetize Yours
I really enjoyed making this weekās YouTube video about how we all have skills ā yes, even the ones you take for granted ā and how you can start monetizing them.
If youāve ever felt like you donāt have anything āspecialā to offer (you do btw), this oneās for you and you can watch it here.
š§ Podcast Episode I Loved: Emma Grede on Overcoming Imposter Syndrome
You already know Iāve fangirled over Emma Grede on this newsletter before ā and this conversation she had with Net-A-Porter was so good.
She talks about imposter syndrome in a way that felt so refreshing and honest. I wonāt spoil it, but letās just say it gave me a lot to reflect on ā and I think youāll take something powerful from it too.
Real Self-Careā¦
Sustainable success can only happen if you take care of yourself. Self-care is not selfish ā itās necessary. Here are some self-care tools to recharge and stay balanced this week... ā¬ļø
Self-Care Challenge: This week, I caught myself slipping back into old people-pleasing habits ā saying yes when I wanted to say no, overextending myself, trying to be everything to everyone.
But instead of judging myself, I simply noticed it. I acknowledged it. And I reminded myself:
ā I need to set boundaries
ā I need to say no
ā I canāt do everything ā and if I try, I wonāt have the capacity to do what actually matters to me
So if you needed this reminder too, here it is š¤
Journal Prompt: If I could do anything, what would I want to do? And how can I find the courage to make that a reality?
Andd thatās it for this week! Have a great week and Iāll be back next week with my full launch strategy and plan š
