Real Talk…
In an online world full of highlight reels, let’s get real and dive into the authentic, unfiltered realities of entrepreneurship and being a founder. Here are some behind-the-scenes musings and reflections from my past week… ⬇️
Happy New Year! I hope 2025 is off to a great start for you. Transitioning from the slow, cozy vibes of the holiday season into the buzz of a new year can feel strange, but I’ve been easing into it more intentionally this year.
I’m still in Vancouver, wrapping up errands and ticking off things I don’t usually get to do since I’m rarely back now. This weekend, I’m viewing a couple more wedding venues, checking out pre-sale developments, and catching up with friends! Next week, I’m flying back to London, and my sister is coming along for a visit before starting her new job in San Francisco. We’re also travelling in Europe together for a couple of weeks — a rare chance to spend quality time with her before she moves!
Realistically, I won’t be fully “heads down” in work mode until February. Old me would have panicked and canceled this Europe trip with my sister. But “new me” recognizes how precious this time is and is making it a priority.
That said, I’m doing what I can to set myself up for success so I can enjoy traveling, sightseeing, and quality time with her — while still supporting my clients and keeping content and sales funnels running in the background. (Stay tuned for next Sunday’s email where I’ll share how I balance work and travel!)
As I ease into this back-to-work transition, I’ve noticed a shift among my clients, peers, and mentors. Many people are setting goals to grow and scale their businesses this year, but with a focus on alignment. They’re rejecting the “grow at all costs” mentality in favor of building businesses that support their lifestyles and well-being — and I couldn’t be more thrilled to see this reckoning.
The “hustle harder” mindset is losing its shine, and rightfully so. With my previous business, Recloseted, I chased growth at all costs, believing nonstop work and constant sacrifices were the only paths to success. While growth does take effort, I’ve learned that working smarter and embracing balance are essential for long-term sustainability.
Back then, I burned out monthly like clockwork, which ironically slowed me down in the long run. Now, I’m building my business intentionally — aligned with my lifestyle, financial goals, and values. And I’m seeing so many others embrace this approach, which excites me endlessly!

Real Growth…
To be the best founder possible, continuous learning and growth are essential. Don’t let yourself become the bottleneck in your business! Here are some self-development resources I found valuable this past week... ⬇️
YouTube Videos:
- From Hustle to Sustainable Success explores adopting a sustainable approach to business growth
- Feeling Resentful of Your Business? addresses how to overcome frustration and realign with your goals
Podcast Episodes: I’ve been loving The Search Engine podcast lately. Their episodes on inflation, democracy, and OpenAI were particularly enlightening.
Books: Over the holidays, I finally let myself read Throne of Glass (I am someone that has no self-control so I had to wait until the holidays to read this lol). It was so good and has become one of my favorite fantasy series! On the self-development side, I’ve been reading Smart Brevity, which has been a great refresher on clear communication (with clients, on social media, and with loved ones).
Real Self-Care…
Sustainable success can only happen if you take care of yourself. Self-care is not selfish — it’s necessary. Here are some self-care tools to recharge and stay balanced this week... ⬇️
Self-Care Challenge: If you’re working on eating healthier or drinking less, ask yourself, “How will this [snack/drink/etc.] make me feel tomorrow?” This simple question has helped curb my bad snacking habits. 😅
Journal Prompt: How has the start of this year been for me? What steps can I take to make 2025 my best year yet?
Quote / Affirmation: “I am worthy and capable of achieving everything I set out to do.”
